It's nice to have a pet around the house but remember there are a number of obligations to fulfill when you own a dog. Whatever your dog does it is learnt by repeating the same habit. Your dog will not be able to outgrow these bad habits if you tolerate them. It will be you who will suffer in the end. Dog obedience lessons is always best started early.

Puppies are young and don't have a mind of their own. Your puppy will look up to you but you must help them to get rid of their bad habits, developing good habits is much easier when they are so young. Training Your Dog at Home

Young dogs can become very anxious if separated from you for any length of time. They can become very destructive by chewing the furniture, barking or crying. You have to understand that it is also hard for him to adjust to his new environment. You can start by letting him know those activities that you can tolerate, this can start with house training.

If your dog doesn't seem to understand you right away, don't get angry or violent. Potty training, leash training, and the likes are never achieved overnight. You should always try to encourage your dog by giving lots of praise whenever they have been good. You can help your puppy breakout of its bad habits but you must start as soon as possible. Incorporate fun sessions during the training and use commands frequently. Whenever necessary, impose a punishment but not something that will agitate him and cause him to fight back. For instance, ignore him if he behaves badly. Even though he has been bad he it will try to get your attention, you must be stern and not give in until he starts to behave.

Leaning the Socialization Skills

The first 16 weeks of your puppy's life is his socialization period. It is the time when he develops into an adult dog. Therefore, you must expect that it is also the time frame when he changes his temperament, behavior, habits, and character. The socialization period is also the time that he gets adjusted to his family and the people in the household.

It is best to let him become familiar with the house and the people around. It helps to expose him to some animals too.

This conditions him that it is not only him that exists in that area. Take him out for a walk so he will see what lies beyond the gates of your home. In this way, he will not go wild whenever he sees other objects, animals, and people apart from the members of his family.

During the dog obedience and socialization training, you should arm yourself with a doze of patience. Your pet lacks maturity so it is your own responsibility to handle the matter really well. He imitates what he sees so you better act accordingly.
